Professional Background
Michael Rees-Evans began training as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse, London, in 1993 where he spent 3 years in Audit followed by a year in Management Consulting before transferring to the Johannesburg office for 2 years as a management consultant.
In December 1999 he moved to Australia and joined Accenture, where he was a manager in the management consulting practice, before going into partnership in a financial planning practice in late 2002.
In addition to advising clients on a fee for service basis, with a focus on self managed super fund clients, he also applied his consulting skills to running the small business for 6 years.
In late 2008 Michael sold his share of the practice to become General Manager at The Trust Company where he lead the Private Clients team for nearly 4 years, until leaving to start Libertas Wealth Consulting in mid-2012 with its own Australian Financial Services License, where he advised and led until February 2022.
In March 2022 Michael accepted the opportunity to become Partner with William Buck, a top-10 national accounting firm focused on the mid-market and helped lead the 30-strong Sydney wealth advisory team.
After three years he decided to focus back on advising a small number of clients and providing high-touch, personal advice within a small financial advice firm.
Michael specialises in providing independent personal advice to employees, self-managed super fund trustees, small business owners and retirees, aiming to maximize the probability of clients achieving their personal goals and objectives.
